Basic Facts |
OK, you've decided that you want to make your class
different than everyone elses - ANYONE elses in fact, with music that no
one else has. You've got a bunch of tunes that you want to mix into
a 40 minute step class, on a single disc, with no breaks. Now the dilemma
- what do I do?

Do It Yourself |
First, the required hardware. You need to have a reasonably good computer (fast is better, a lot of memory is good). The hard drive has to have a lot of space. Each song will take up about 40-50 MB in wave format (which it will be in while editing and mixing). So...with ten 4 minute songs you will have 400 MB tied up in the songs. The final mix will take another 400 MB, and cutting the main mix into songs for the CD will take 400 MB. So in the middle of editing your mix will take up over a gigabyte of space on your drive. Gotta have a sound card! Almost any card will do - the quality of 16-bit audio is CD quality, so anything better you will probably never hear in the final mix. Next, lets talk about the source of the music. To Be Continued... |
